Just a quick note to let you know, despite whatever happens with the U.S. bailout proposal, the sky is not falling and you will be OK. Unless of course, you have decided to the contrary. If that’s the case, try to use your fears and current focus on the negative to provide some contrast to the good outcomes that you want to see happen. Then, move your energy and your thoughts step by step to that better feeling place.
It is easy to get sucked into a pattern of doom and gloom behavior. Afterall, just look at many of our politicians playing that game quite well. One in particular comes to mind today, telling those who would listen just how bad we all had it, and assigning blame wherever she could.
Think for yourself, the thoughts of a bright and positive future, and a more pleasant now.
Today, I spotted Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore walking down the street in Chicago, cups of Starbucks in hand. Why do I post this here? Is it relevant to the Law of Attraction you may ask?
I post it because this encounter came after an energy-uplifting breakfast with a friend. And, seeing the couple sent my own vibrational energies even higher. Had I followed my rational, original plan for the weekend, I would not even had been in Chicago this morning, and certainly wouldn’t have seen the celebrity couple. Two friends texted me about my own screenplay when I let the word out that I saw Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. That alone got me more in touch with one of my intentions.
I don’t know the exact connection in it all. But, my intuition kept me in Chicago, lead me to a place where my vibrational energy is higher than it was yesterday, let me have a glimpse of the happy couple, and yes they looked very happy together. It also got me thinking about one of my own intentions around my romantic-comedy screenplay.
I do not know how it all connects. I’m not particularly concerned about the “how” of it all. I do know it’s for me a signal to keep following my intuition. Wherever it pans out, the day is full of great vibrational energy and I am riding the wave.
Today I gave a talk about Dealing With Difficult People. If you have read my blog posts before, you may remember that I have given this talk before.
Well, on my way to my presentation, I had a few new thoughts on the topic, sudden, inspired even. I began typing them into my Iphone Notes, mostly at red lights or really slow traffic. I decided to incorporate them into future presentations on this topic, and maybe work one or two into today’s presentation and see how it would fit.
When I arrived for the meeting, I had a sense of awkwardness, something wasn’t feeling right energy wise. It could have been because I was a last minute fill-in speaker to replace someone else. But, I wasn’t sure if that was it. I love to speak and was happy for the opportunity. Maybe it was the space itself, cramped and stuffy. Yet, I had presented in the room before and could work around that issue in the past.
What was at the heart of this? I was feeling great, full of high vibrational energy in the car, yet once inside the meeting room, bam! A sudden drop.
I had just a few minutes before it was time to start. The low feeling didn’t go away. I put on a smile, searched for happy feelings and pressed forward.
As I began to talk with the group of about 20 people, and following my prepared outline, I suddenly had an “ah-ha” moment with the crowd. They were interested, but not responding like I have had other groups respond to me. It was almost like I was telling them about things they already knew very well. There was participation, yet still a sense that the energy could be at a higher level. And not just mine, but theirs as well.
The “ah-ha” moment was when Inside I felt some sort of message to go with my thoughts from the car. Not just try one out, and not to pull out my Iphone and read them all either. Though, that would have been funny. But, suddenly in my head, I was in touch with the inspiration in my car. I was in touch with that inspired energy. I went totally to the revised and improved outline that had just begun to form in stop and go traffic. The flow increased, concepts and new ways to talk about the subject went from thought to words easily.
This shift in my energy, and my words and my framework for the discussion, abandoning my perfectly good presentation outline for the inspiration was exactly what the group needed. The conversation and interactions improved. And by the time I finished, we were a room full of pretty positive energy and ready to take on whatever difficult people we drew to us in our worlds. Maybe even attract fewer into our lives in the first place.
I share this because in the midst of it all, I wasn’t sure what was happening but as I could I choose to go with my intuition and my inspiration instead of sticking to the script. It was the right choice. I shall do that more often.
And here is another interesting tidbit, a bit of synchronicity. About the same time I was asked to fill in last minute to do this talk, I met a new colleague who I found challenging and unpleasant to deal with. So today, I also learned something from my new words about my own situation and dealing with difficult people in my life too.
In my post about the Vortex Exercise I created, I mentioned that this exercise has been working for me. I thought I would take a moment to elaborate, and to also share my belief that the universe has a pleasant sense of humor, at least as evidenced in my life.
In the Vortex Exercise, I talked about visualizing your desires existing in the calm at the center of the vortex. I try to be as specific as possible as I visualize my intentions. One of my visualizations includes me sitting in a coffee shop working on a presentation about the Law of Attraction on a Mac Book computer.
Well, I do not own a Mac Book computer, yet. But recently, through a series of events, for another program I am working on, I now have a Mac Book to use. It came to be not in any way I would have predicted. There is a lesson in that. The lesson is to align yourself with the feeling of having something and not worry about the “how” it is going to happen. I imagined working on the Mac Book, not how I would get it. Instead of buying it, or getting at as a gift, I was given a business credit card to use to purchase it for a project, and the person giving me the card said, “Get a Mac Book.” This was without me even suggesting it. Well, not to him anyway. I suppose I was suggesting it to the universe for a while. And that suggestion was answered.
Are you wondering what the coffee thing is about? Here is where the universe flexes its humor. Two days in a row, I have walked into two different Starbucks coffee shops and because the coffee I ordered was still brewing, I was given a free cup of coffee. What are the odds of that, two days in a row? I don’t know. But, I do know that I had two days where I worked on my presentation, on a Mac Book computer, in a coffee shop, just like I visualized in the Vortex Exercise. And, the universe threw in two cups of free coffee to boot.
May all of your dreams come true.
Searching through the newspapers today, OK well not really searching, more like breezing through the papers, in a search for good news, I came across an article about Stonehenge.
I mention it here because it is refreshing to me to think of something that’s been around for thousands of years and with such a mystical spirituality surrounding it. So much of what’s written in the papers is so temporary and far from spiritual.
So the story that caught my eye was on pg A27 of September 23rd’s Wall Street Journal. Wedged in between, “How Sarah Got McCain’s Groove Back”, and an opinion piece about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was this headline; “Some Think Stumper Stonehenge May Have Been a Healing Ground”.
This latest theory, with some interesting tidbits of facts to lead researchers in this direction, is that people traveled to Stonehenge for healing. And, that the massive stones were believed to make people well. One other most recent theory was that it could have been an ancient burial ground, and of course one of the most popular theories is that it has some ancient religious connotation, perhaps a place used for worship.
But, this story focused on healing. The thought of those massive stones representing a place where people went for physical healing is an interesting one. It is also a positive one that somehow speaks to man’s timeless search for wholeness.
Here is an exercise I created that has been working for me the past few days. It is inspired by the Hicks-Abraham workshop.
I have practiced this in bed, just as I begin to wake or fall asleep. I think it would work great in a meditative or highly relaxed state too.
1. In a quiet and relaxed state, close your eyes.
2. Imagine winds swirling around you in a clockwise fashion. Gusts of wind, swirling around you in such a way to form an “eye” of calm over the center of your body.
3. Now, imagine the winds swirling in greater force around you. Notice the direction, the feel of the winds. And, know that in contrast to the rushing winds around you, you are calm in every way, like that eye of calm that rests over your midsection.
4. Now think of one item that you plan to manifest in your life. Is it the perfect mate? The new career? A renewed sense of joy with your family? Whatever it is. Imagine it, visualize it, and then place it in that calm place. See it in the center, secure and real, in that calm place surrounded by the turning winds. The winds rush round you. Your visualization is relaxed and there for you. All is calm and relaxed, as the wind rushes round, creating a vortex that holds your desires manifest.
5. Hold the visualization as long as comfortable. You should hold three concepts together or alternate betweenthese three as you complete the exercise. One, your body, calm and still. Two, the rushing winds around you. And, three, the object of your manifestation, relaxed and waiting for you.
Try this exercise for a few days and see what the results bring to you.
I look around me and there’s more contrast that I notice day to day than I have in a while.
Perhaps it is the fresh financial news. Or, it could be the heightening political rhetoric. There are many out there lending a voice to what is right or wrong with our country, the world, politicians, institutions, or just each other. Lots of words and sounds that upon first glance seem to be there to divide, pushing us to choose one side over another. I say choose. But not as in choose right or wrong, or good or bad according to someone else’s definition. Look at all of this contrast. Look at all of this apparent negativity and choose for yourself, your path, your options.
Choose what feels right and in alignment, and what feels joyful and good. You will find that the rest of all of that stuff may still be there, but not in your focus so much, and not holding you back or distracting you from being you at your best.
There are many related thoughts in my psyche stimulated by Saturday’s workshop. Given the U.S. financial news today it is pertinent to talk about one subject at the workshop, the value of contrast.
Merrill Lynch is bought out by Bank of America, AIG teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, the DOW is down 500 points, and the financial institution Lehman Brothers goes bankrupt. Wow.
And no, I am not afraid to list all of these. I would list more, but you get the idea. You see, they are each examples of contrast. It is contrast that helps us understand what we do want by knowing what we don’t want. And just think of all of the contrast around us. This is just financial news I mentioned. How about all of the other stories in today’s crescendo of contrast? Lots of contrast to choose from. Lots of negative to focus on.
If you are going to focus on the contrast, and it is hard to resist, then use it to move to a different place. Don’t let yourself get stuck in the muck of the contrast.
I would also remind you to look at your own universe of news rather than simply attributing the mass media’s version to yourself. If some of what you see fits, then it fits. It is there to see but not to remained focused on. I know it sounds simple. It is. See it. Feel it. Understand it. Then let it help you move to another place,a place where you want to be. I hope this perspective is helpful with all of the contrast under the media’s focus today.
Warning, long sentences ahead.
Discovering words to describe Saturday’s Esther and Jerry Hicks workshop leads me to a desire to sift through the vocabulary of Abraham as channeled by Esther Hicks. If you have ever heard Esther Hick’s voice as she speaks the words of this entity from another level of consciousness, you have likely noticed the clear tone and deliberate choice of words. If you have not, it is worth a Google search and a trip to their website or Youtube for a sample. Or even better, attend a workshop like I did.
It was amazing. The morning began for me and my friend, with an abundance of rainfall. It came in the form of heavy storms that predominated the weekend in Chicago. Once inside the Rosemont Crowne Plaza and after an adventure in the walk, almost a swim from the parking garage to the hotel proper, the day began to re-frame itself.
Inside the meeting room with 800 or so others there was a warmth, an intimacy, a hopeful energy that was noticeable at a barely conscious level. But, there none-the-less and part of a shift in consciousness that began almost immediately. Was it all of the energy of those in the room? A collective unconscious desire for a magical day? I’m not sure right at this moment, and not very invested in the analytical of it all anyway. The feeling is enough for me, no matter how I got there. And that energy in the room continued to expand throughout the day.
One of the first things I noticed as the program began was how very quickly and articulate the words of Abraham flowed. Almost too quickly for me at first. I found myself reaching for my notebook. I would begin to jot down one concept or anecdote that resonated with me and in one moment, that thought would be incompletely recorded on my page as I heard another treasure I wanted to remember.
In essence, yesterday’s workshop was simplicity with an abundance of texture. In my next post, I will comment on a few of the specifics I received form the workshop. I look forward to sharing more with all of you.
And to the lovely people I shared lunch, thank you for your company, perspectives and diverse conversation.
I am looking forward to tomorrow’s workshop with Esther and Jerry Hicks. I heard from a friend of mine today that there are over 700 registered participants. I know because she was number 701, and that was before I had registered.
Anticipation is one of my favorite emotions. I was the type of child that preferred to shake the Christmas present and guess for as long as I could about what was in store, before opening it. That sort of approach holds true in my adult life. So, I wonder excitedly about what I may learn tomorrow, about myself, about others, about the world. Who knows for sure? It is all wonderful anticipation at this moment. Then, tomorrow the adventure along the path of manifestation and the law of attraction continues. I am particularly pleased to be sharing this adventure with a dear and similar-minded friend. And I can’t wait to see what a room full of 700+ people gathered to listen to channelled material from Abraham via Esther Hicks feels like. I imagine the energy will have a perceptible feel to it.
Curious? So I am. I will blog all about it soon.
