Last Holiday, 2006
I was a bit under the weather and took some time to enjoy one of my favorite movie genres, comedy. I’ve always thought that Queen Latifah is a great actress in her roles. There is a genuineness to her comedic talents that comes through in the parts she plays. So, I thought I would enjoy the movie. I did, and to my surprise, not only did I think it was a great and fun movie, I discovered it had an element of the Law of Attraction.
In one of the early scenes, Queen Latifah’s character, a department store clerk named Georgia Byrd opens her “book of possibilities”. It’s a place she keeps her secret dreams for her future. It’s hard to imagine how her hesitant and dreary life will lead to those dreams coming true. Yet, somehow, you know that there’s a lot more to her than just a secret crush on a grill salesman and her love of cooking.
Given just weeks to live, she releases herself from fear and inhibition and takes off on a dream trip to Europe. The trip is straight from her book of possibilities. Once she arrives at The Hotel Pupp, she becomes the mystery woman in the middle of some hilarious antics with a chef, Congressman, a Senator, a retail magnate, and his mistress. All the while, leading herself closer to turning her book of possibilities into a book of realities.
Georgia’s book and the way she begins to turn her dreams into reality will strike a chord with even a casual observer of the Law of Attraction. Last Holiday is a fun uplifting movie on many levels.
As I discover other movies with elements of the Law of Attraction, I’ll review them here.
