As another workshop approaches this weekend, here’s a quick exercise to give you an idea of the topic Eva Liljendahl and I will be covering this weekend, turning the negative into a positive.
The subject of contrast refers to the negative we encounter that contrasts those things and emotions we desire.
There is something good about feeling bad, helping us clarify what we do want to experience for example. Movng through the contrast can result in expansion and growth.
So here is a quick exercise to help you move from the negative to the positive.

Take out a sheet of paper and a pen. On the left side of the paper write down one thing in your life that feels the most unpleasant. In a sentance or two write what the situation is. Be as specific as possible. Beneath the description, write a few words about how you feel.
Once you’ve completed this, go to the bottom of the page and write what the exact opposite of the situaion. Give this part some thought and then write down how it would feel to be experiencing this positive, opposite place. Think about this place for a few minutes. Imagine yourself in this place. How does it feel? How do you feel?  What thoughts come to mind?
There are of course, a host of steps to get you from your current situation to a better place. One way is to look at the page and fill in the space in between with small steps between the negative and the positive. We will be doing something similar to this at our workshop, exploring all of these steps in between.

Try the exercise with a few different situations and see what results.
